Our Story

Born at Low Tide

Prologue

Every afternoon below the Uluwatu cliffs, the tide draws back and the reef turns gold. The water stills in the rock pools, the wind drops, and for an hour the whole coast seems to hold its breath. This is where Bonjour was born.

Chapter I

An Island That Makes Things by Hand

Every morning in Bali, small offerings of woven palm leaf and flowers are set on doorsteps across the island. By evening they are gone. The next day, someone makes them again.

We learned to work here, among people for whom a thing made by hand is expected to mean something.

When the tide draws back, the reef turns gold.

Chapter II

A Jewel, Warm From the Sun

A swimsuit lasts a summer. A stone outlasts all of us.

So each of our pieces is held by a strap of stones, pearls and glass, strung by hand. It sits against the skin, takes the warmth of the day, and stays long after the season has gone.

Made to be worn by one woman at a time.

Chapter III

The Hour

No two strings of stone are alike, and no two afternoons on the reef are either. What you wear here becomes part of a day that was only ever yours.

Face turned to the last of the sun

Our Word

  • Made by hand, in Bali

Every strap is strung in our own studio in Uluwatu.

  • Chosen one by one

Natural stones, freshwater pearls and shell, with glass and wood beads for colour.

  • One clasp, always

A strap bought today fits a piece bought years from now.

  • Restrung for life

Bring it back at any point in its life. For the first 12 months, the repair is ours.
